Café on the Lochan, a long continuing saga

Inspired by the breathtaking Craufurdland Lochan, the inception of Cafe on the Lochan started in 2003, but sadly is not yet open to the public. When the building will be complete is currently unknown, despite all planning and building warrant and other paperwork beiung correct and in place

A Brief History of Café on the Lochan

The building as it stands today was built under contract by a building firm, who under their contract were responsible for the final design, detailed planning permission, and building warrant. Unfortunately, they did not honour any part of their contract, and as a limited company which is now struck off and bankrupt, we are left with a buidling requiring alot of work to right the wrongs.

Café on the Lochan- The Future

The new designs for the building will see the restaurant area and kitchens expanded. At the front of the building, the seating area will extend to the water's edge, where a curtain wall of glass will allow dinners to marvel and the views across the lochan, or watch in awe at the skill of our anglers fly-fishing. The new kitchen area will house a state-of-the-art kitchen to allow a range of beautifully prepared countryside food to be offered. It is intended that the Cafe/Restaurant will also be licensed. More details will be posted as the project proceeds.

The Café on the Lochan is set in the Ayrshire countryside near the attractive village of Fenwick which is only 25 mins from Glasgow city centre or Ayr. The café is surrounded by mature trees on the banks of Craufurdland Lochan making for a peaceful and tranquil setting.

Inside the café there is room for 80 people to relax on either our leather sofas or arm chairs at coffee tables or high back chairs at tables. We have a function room for approx 30 people ideal for meetings or a social gathering. There is Wi-Fi internet access in the café so if you wanted to bring a laptop and finish some work and have a delicious cake and coffee you will be very welcome.
