Photographic Competition on Craufurdland Estate, near Fenwick, Ayrshire

Craufurdland is a small family run estate between Fenwick and Kilmarnock. We have decided to open the estate and encourage the public to visit on an ongoing basis. We have formed a not-for- profit organization, Craufurdland Community Activities (C.C.A.), to promote the Estate and develop access, paths and facilities for the public. We will have more information about these plans on view on the weekend of the competition.

We have decided to hold a photographic competition to encourage photographers to visit. There is a wide range of wildlife, including deer and buzzards, a stocked trout fishery, bluebell woods, cycle tracks and of course the castle itself.

C.C.A. is asking for competitors to come for a quick tour of the estate the evening of Friday the 28th of May 2010 at 7 o’clock. A guide will show you around the estate, pointing out areas of interest. As one of the areas we suggest is photographed is the garden of a private residence (the castle), we ask that this area is only photographed during the weekend of 28-30 May 2010 weekend and we hope you will respect the privacy of occupiers of the castle and not intrude on their privacy at any other time.
