Our Reviews

  • negative review  Staff were very inattentive, never asked how food was , took 15 mins to clear table before we could order coffee. Ordered the meat platter 3 slices of salami and some pretty boring chicken , with cold unappetizing focacia. Left feeling as though I'd had an overpriced starter. Even on leaving , no staff smiled, said goodbye or asked how our experience was. Absolutely disgusted with both food and service. The only saving grace was the lovely Leslie who, when we had no idea who our server was supposed to be sorted out our bill and was very pleasant. Definitely will not be back!

5 star review  The Lairds Table is our absolute favorite new place to eat! We’ve been three times since it opened earlier this month; each morsel we’ve had has been superb - they are using the freshest, finest local produce and an incredibly talented chef! The views across the Lochan are stunning and there are fabulous historical touches and treasures all around the lovely interior! It’s a hidden gem in Fenwick and a fantastic addition to Craufurdland estate!

  • 5 star review  Just had a fantastic dining experience at the Laird’s Table, which we’ve just discovered. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant, in a lovely setting just outside Fenwick. Everything about it was first class - the warm welcome, the attentive staff, the excellent service, and the friendly hosts. Oh, and the food is amazing. We almost want to keep this place a secret, but that would be selfish. Well worth a visit... as long as you like our company, because this is now one of our favourite places to eat!

positive review  Decided to try The Laird's Table today for lunch based on the reviews we had read and we were not disappointed. We all agreed (party of 5) that this is one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Outstanding quality food (I would highly recommend the festive 3 course option) and at £19.95 amazing value! The relaxed atmosphere, lovely service and the stunning setting were the icing on the cake. Even left with a stunning red wine for Christmas Day on recommendation. keep doing what you are doing guys, can't wait to return......

5 star review  Had a wonderful, peaceful lunch in a bright, spacious yet cosy and comfortable setting at the Lairds table. I loved the personal touches with wildflowers in vases at the entrance and a different flower placed in a vase on each table. The staff were constantly on hand to offer advice about the menu (and the history of the castle estate grounds) and the service was excellent. As for the food, delicious! Everybody in our party went home very happy. Thank you. We will be back.

positive review  Not our first visit. Service a bit haphazard today ( open garden at the castle in addition ) but that wouldn’t put me off from ever visiting again. Only here for cake and coffee - all produce made in-house locally. Wine and goodies for sale and they sell their dishes to take home or as ready meals. Recommend the fish and chips and the macaroni. The table next to us were have steak open sandwiches which looked amazing. All in all a great place for good food with a variety of menu options at reasonable prices, with daily specials, all served in a stunning setting. A hidden gem.

positive review  Impromptu first visit yesterday for a light lunch. We were lucky to get a space and we took a "sharing" table. Drinks served quickly and 10 mins after that a couple were seated next to us. After about 20 minutes the waitress approached our table and took a food order for the couple who had arrived after us. She did immediately take our food order after that so fair enough I thought. However.. the couple ordered cooked main meals and we ordered a sandwich and panini. We waited almost 30 minutes after ordering for our food and in that time the couple next to us were nearly finished their mains. I did query if we'd been forgotten about but got a very quick, sharp "no, it's just coming, there's only two of them in the kitchen" A little disappointed if I'm honest at that response considering it was sandwiches we ordered. The food that we did have was just ok, nothing special despite the cost of £25 for two sandwiches a kids picnic plate and three drinks. All that said, I would recommend a visit and we will come back to give it another chance for dinner or to try the full lunch menu. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the view lovely.
