Muddy Trial Events
A natural, muddy, obstacle course race (like Deer Stalker – but shorter, muddier and during the day) set in the beautiful grounds of Craufurdland Castle and Estate. Starting from the imposing Craufurdland Castle the races cross fields, ford streams, meander through woodlands and chest high through dark gooey ditches.
Probably one of the most challenging mud runs in the UK, the course uses all natural terrain, it is very very muddy, with ever-changing landscape, plenty of river crossings, marshlands and swampy deep muddy ditches.
The Antithesis series of races which take place every second Autumn has evolved from the original course with the same challenging natural obstacles and terrain. If you’ve done our other races, you know how hard it will be. The course will be similiar to our first race which was on March 2014 which has evolved from the Original featured on Channel 4’s Country House Rescue programme in July 2012.
The 10km course is one of the hardest mudruns currently in Scotland, relentless, constantly changing, gruelling and challenging even for the most experienced runner. This is not a double loop of the 5K. Described by competitors as “tough, relentless” ” The only thing harder I have done is the Mighty Deer Stalker.”
The 5km course takes in most of the muddiest, mucky and dirty bits of the 10k course, but takes out the extra distance, leaving a tough, dirty muddy course. This race is a step towards the full 10k for younger runners, with all over 12 years old able to enter. Participants under 18 need parental consent.
The Muddy Mile is specifically designed for the next generation of mud runners, with children of all ages welcome (with appropriate parental supervision). Plenty of mud for the youngsters, but over a short course to let little legs finish their first mud run. Only participants of 12 and under are eligible for Muddy Mile prizes. Teams – Groups of 5 or more can be entered as a team
